About The Client

UTStarcom is a global telecom infrastructure provider. The company develops and supplies a broad range of telecommunication devices to communications service providers and network operators including fixed and mobile network operators, as well as enterprises. Traditionally, the company had focused on markets in China, Japan, and India, but has expanded to markets in Africa, Central and Latin America, and the Middle East.

Their “simple network, simple operation” product design philosophy eliminates unnecessary complexity, resulting in greater network performance, flexibility, reliability and security. UTStarcom’s intelligent network solutions enable operators to offer more and better revenue-generating services at lower capital and operating expense.

The Challenge

Our team at Zero Point ERP was approached by UTStarcom who was struggling with frequent system downtimes. The organization’s ERP would often go offline for six hours at a time, causing significant disruptions to their business operations and negatively impacting their customers.

We began by conducting a thorough assessment of the organization’s ERP software and processes to identify the root causes of the downtimes. This included analyzing system logs, monitoring performance metrics, and interviewing key stakeholders.

Based on our findings, we identified a number of factors that were contributing to the frequent downtimes. One of the biggest issues was the organization’s reliance on outdated and poorly-maintained hardware and software. The system was prone to crashes, among other issues, and it took a long time to get them back online after they went down.

The Solution

To address these issues, we recommended the organization invest in modernizing their ERP system and processes, with Oracle ERP. This included upgrading to newer, more reliable hardware and compatible applications, as well as implementing best practices for system maintenance and monitoring.

In addition to modernizing UTStarcom’s ERP ecosystem, we also recommended the organization adopt a proactive approach to problem resolution. This included setting up a dedicated team to monitor the new systems and identify potential issues before they become major problems.

The Result

The implementation of efficient processes and proactive maintenance measures had a major impact on UTStarcom’s ability to reduce system downtimes. Prior to these efforts, the organization experienced six hours of downtime per incident, which disrupted their operations and negatively impacted customer satisfaction. However, with the help of Zero Point’s expertise, UTStarcom was able to eliminate system downtimes altogether.

UTStarcom was able to better support their critical functions and improve the overall performance of their ERP and business processes. Additionally, the elimination of system downtimes contributed to an increase in customer satisfaction, as UTStarcom was able to better meet the needs and expectations of their customers.
